Yahoo Email Hacked

I received the following strange email from my wife’s Yahoo email account:

Subject:  No Subject

Email Body (don’t visit!!): http://sites.google.com/site/zmyrkfbfsl/a6nj61ijrl

This is an obvious hack as the email was sent to all her Yahoo contacts – and also all her Sent Items were deleted. Quite scary I must say! So I obviously reset her password and changed her password hint questions.

I did a search on the Internet and found that this is not an isolated incident.

It’s getting quite scary how much personal information these web-based email clients like Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and Gmail contain. There is enough information contained in there to easily hijack someone identification. Just too scary!

So I recommend that everyone change their Yahoo password.

As the link is a Google Sites address, I emailed Google the details: security@google.com

My Yahoo email account has been hacked into at least nine times in the last six months. I have always been able to log into my account. Unfortunately, someone else is able to do so as well. Every time I change my password to one at least fourteen digits long. One time I changed the password and it was hacked into two days later. Every contact of mine, including me, was sent spam. All I get from Yahoo is a canned response telling me to redo my security questions. What a joke.
