Well it’s quite clever in the way how it disguises the offending web address. Without going into too much detail how the code works, I will point to the the following line:

If you look carefully you may see something that resembles a typical URL but with extra characters mixed in. If you removed the extra characters it will return the following URL:

So why go to all that effort just to disguise a simple URL? This is so that the criminal can continue to use the same URL with millions of different variations on the way he disguises the URL so that it can slip past the Spam protection without being detected.

This is an obvious hack as the email was sent to all her Yahoo contacts – and also all her Sent Items were deleted. Quite scary I must say! So I obviously reset her password and changed her password hint questions.

I did a search on the Internet and found that this is not an isolated incident.

It’s getting quite scary how much personal information these web-based email clients like Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and Gmail contain. There is enough information contained in there to easily hijack someone identification. Just too scary!

So I recommend that everyone change their Yahoo password.

To say the truth, I’m not sure exactly what they want from this obvious scam. I assume it’s a Nigerian 419 Scam as over time perhaps they will ask for a fee to unlock the funds, or a legal fee.
